MFT basically contains all the information about each and every file and folder stored on NTFS partition. Thus, MFT contains at least one record for each file stored on the logical volume that has NTFS file system. These records contain the attributes which guide the operating system to how to work with the file or the folder associated with that record. Hence, any corruption to MFT may cause inaccessibility of NTFS partition/volume and data stored on that.
